Front suspension install 2nd gen 78-85

Thank you for your purchase. remove your stock front forks and carefully catch all loose steering ball bearings if reusing. Caged ball bearings or tapered bearings are recommended. Next your steering stop will need to be positioned up and flush with the bottom of the frame neck. Use a crescent wrench to help bend the steering stop. place steering stem in bottom triple clamp followed by lower bearing seal, race and bearing. place into stem and check fitment. make sure steering stop isn't touching lower triple clamp on turns. next install your upper bearing, race and seal followed with upper billet stem cap. add a drop of loctite to the steering stem threads, then carefully thread upper triple clamp onto steering stem and leave hand tight.

locate your upper and lower clamp inserts. upper inserts have a groove down the center. grab your left fork which has the lower brake caliper mount. place bottom insert into triple clamp and make sure its flush, then slide in your fork carefully.  place your upper insert on top clamp and continue to carefully slide in the fork until its flush with top clamp, then hand tighten upper insert. repeat the same procedure with right side fork.

once your forks are installed in the triple clamps, tighten the steering stem and then tighten all 4 clamp inserts.

with your front wheel and hub assembled slide in your axle in the left fork, then install 1 provided washer followed by hub spacer and then wheel/hub assembly, continued with the next spacer, washer and slide through the right fork. apply loctite to axle threads and install axle nut.
